Welcome to Kouao Books. Here is where we talk about all the goodness that comes with reading and teaching your children how to read. We will share random facts, reading tips, and books we like. We make unique coloring books, children-based picture books, and journals. Visit here. I even have a couple of books for the icky adults. Yuck!! We really pride ourselves on providing quality work that’s fun and exciting. We do everything with the little ones in mind. At Kouao Books, we believe reading should be a fun adventure for everyone. Kids are normally reluctant to do anything that doesn’t come with at least a little bit of fun. Come along with us as we make Reading Believers out of you, one family at a time.
Who Am I?
I’ve been called by many names: Twin, Big Twin, Dot, Ms Dot, Red, Rita, Quita, and Quita-Rita. Of all those names, none bring me more joy than Zoe and Olivia’s Mom. Once I was given that beloved name, I knew I was in for a treat. And by the way, my name is Sherita. But my friends call me Rita. I’m a navy wife to the most handsome guy, and mom to…. You guessed it! Zoe and Olivia. I am also the founder and co-owner of this popsicle stand.
I’m currently a Production Planner at my local shipyard, where I use 0.005% of my IT degree. Oops, did I say that out loud? I spend my free time trying new recipes with my girls, writing, and trying to grow food in my backyard garden. My hope is to be able to write full time one day. That will probably depend on how well you all receive me.
What Made Me Start a Blog?
The honest answer is: boredom. Maybe that's a bad answer, but it’s the truth. I didn’t feel like I was using my full potential at work, so I would jot notes here and there to keep myself engaged. (And not fall asleep!!) I figured I might as well put all of those notes together into one file to share with others. I also found that writing helps with my anxiety. (Good thing too, because it was starting to get out of hand.) I find it pretty peaceful to just put my head down and write my thoughts on paper.
Anywho, I’m on a journey to become a Best Selling Children’s Book author. (I’m absolutely manifesting that accomplishment.) I want you, yes you, to be a part of my journey. Come along with me. We can skip down this country road together hang in hand. Help this little Mississippi girl make her hometown proud. I promise, I will not forget my people. Well, most of them anyway. (Just being honest.)

I want this blog to be a fun blog, but we WILL learn something new. Scout’s honor!! I promise to be open, honest, and transparent. I also (somewhat) promise to never bore you to death. Keep an open heart and mind, and we will be just fine. I genuinely want to spread life, love, and happiness to each of you. And, of course, I want you to Read Something New Today!
